I think Rush’s appeal is quite understandable — for those who don’t really “do details”, he provides a compelling worldview. He speaks with confidence, and spells things out in a way the dittoheads can grok. For the good ole’ boy set, his words are like audible codeine.

And… if Rush were to tell the truth it would spell disaster for the Bush re-election effort. He’s singularly responsible for twenty million or so woefully misinformed Americans that hang on his every word (the so-called “dittoheads”).
I can’t believe Bush’s poll numbers, while falling, are still as high as they are. It’s really a testament our servile corporate media, which have become essentially an organ of the government, serving up their daily talking points without much critical analysis. As Helen Thomas has said, 3 or 4 decades ago such an incompetent administration with so much hubris would have already collapsed.

Since starting my 366 Project to proofread 366 pages (one a day at the Project Gutenberg Distributed Proofreading site, I’ve blogged (on A Tincture of Gutenberg) every page I’ve proofed. An unexpected side effect is that that drastically reduced the frequency with which I posted on A Tincture of Absinthe, my original blog that James set up for me.

I wake up this morning 3 times with the room swinging from side to side! It has happened a couple of times before but this was a lot more severe. I was feeling fait and sick with it. It was an hour till i was sick then i felt alot better. It makes me scared to go to sleep because i dont know whever i will wake up to it again.

I could give two shits about why Sadaam was hiding in a hole (maybe he was captured by the Kurds, drugged and thrown in there?).
I’ll tell you who needs to wake up — all you Rethuglicans out there who swallow this new world order hook, line and sinker. The world’s a lot more complex that Bushco and his puppetmasters would have you believe, and just because you put an American flag on the back of your pickup truck doesn’t mean a unilateralist foreign policy based on preemption is gonna make the world safer.

Good to run across this posting. I woke up this morning (I live on a sailboat) calm waters, and the room was spinning around so bad I couldent get up, I looked at the clock and I saw three of them. If I kept my head in one position it was OK, but as soon as I moved my head, MAN the room went spinning again. This has happened a few times befor in my life. The last time was about 3 years ago. Couldent help but to think of STROKE. Hmm. Not a nice thing to wake up to.

The USS Lincoln was on it’s way home and ordered back to defend our Freedom. CVN-72 almost set a record for deployment time. Those young men and women didn’t piss and moan,did their job,and did it in the finest tradition of The United States Navy.
Not one mishap.Talk about a morale booster! Let me ask…
Why was Saddam hiding in a hole ???
I remember Sept. 11 2001. We were attacked.

Whatever Wally. They’re fucking Christians. If they are stupid enough, superstitious enough to believe in an ultimate and omnipotent entity, such as a god, that has magic powers and creates universes, then go figure man. Fucking Christians should all be put to death NOW, TODAY!
On a happy note, I think homosexuality is ok, especially between two women.

I have had vertigo on and off for years. Finally I found someone to do the Eply Manuver, and it really worked well. But the crystals came back, it seems like wheat, dairy, and not drinking enough water can make things worse.

Yeah, my doctor said that although he couldn’t say for certain, it was his opinion that I was building up fluid pressures in my inner ear plumbing as a result of dehydration and allergic reactions. He pointed out that the dark circles under my eyes are what they call “allergy shiners”, and that I should start working on eliminating dairy, then if needed, wheat, from my diet to see if that makes a difference. And drink a lot more water of course.

Wallace, I had something similar, but not identical, some years ago. I would hear a POP, and my visual field would rotate 90 degrees or more for a split second. This was enough to make my legs drop out from under me. Fortunately, when I was driving it never made me swerve.
Doc said it was like a migraine but in my inner ear. Said I wasn’t staying hydrated. Started sucking water after that, especially after boozing, and it hasn’t recurred.

i did the exact same with patter recognition…only had it a week from the library as it was new…got it back a coulple of months later and finished it…the name attracted me to the book (as well as the author), I enjoyed it though not a classic….

Dean looked really bad on Meet the Press some weeks ago. Was clueless about the number of active military personnel the US has.
The electorate has a short memory, but Rove’s PR machine will be certain to remind us of that poor performance. I hope the voters will, by November 2004, be so sick of Rove and Bush’s lies, that they won’t care about an 18-month-old interview. But you never know.

I tend to concur with this line of thought. The increasing popularity of H. Dean (as a potential candidate for the 2004 elections) comes as a complete surprise to the Republican machine. The Republican reaction has been masked to avoid any public display of panic. Dean’s popularity seems to be linked directly to the amount of money he has gather thus far in his campaign.
This does bring forth an interesting question:
Is the amount of campaign money that one candidate can raise the only factor in conceiving one’s popularity by the end-voter? If so, then the entire process is corrupt and doomed to failure from the start. We all know where the money really comes from… interest groups, unions and corporations, and not the end-voters themselves.
